Job Description

As the Patient Access Coordinator, you will: 

  • Answer patient phone calls in a timely & courteous manner

  • Schedule & educate patients on appropriate services

  • Triage requests & communicate with key interfaces

  • Verify/update patient demographic information during each scheduling interaction

  • Communicate scheduling outcomes with referral sources

  • Locate/interpret documentation in electronic patient charts

  • Handle patient complaints & concerns and escalate to the Call Center Supervisor or Patient Advocate when appropriate

  • Maintain a working knowledge of services & programs PrairieCare offers in order to provide excellent customer service, accurate information sharing & efficient transfers

  • Maintain availability spreadsheet of outpatient providers

  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Call Center Management team

  • Attend mandatory monthly before/after-hours trainings

  • Assist with staff coverage in the event of staffing shortage

 Requirements: 

  • High School diploma

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Experience working in healthcare preferred

  • Strong ability to multitask, handle stress, deescalate & problem solve

  • Excellent critical thinking skills

  • HIPAA knowledge

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint & Excel
